These last 3 yrs have been full of ups and downs. I have watched a 5lb 11oz baby girl who was completely dependent on me for everything, grow up into a 26lb little girl. She no longer depends on me for food and nourishment (other than getting her a snack or a meal). She can now feed herself and requires little or no help! She no longer depends on me for clean diapers as she has been potty trained for almost a year. In fact she now tells me "I not need help. I do it myself. Shut the door" when she needs to go to the restroom. She no longer depends on me to be able to get "around" in this world as she has been walking for over 2 yrs and is a PRO at walking, running and most of all jumping (her favorite activity!). She of course still needs for me to supervise her, play with her, wash her clothes, help her take a bath and all that other good stuff that we do on a daily basis, however, she doesn't depend on me for every waking minute of the day.
Just this past week I realized how important her "fwiends" are to her. We left the house to go to Sonic (HEY! HAPPY HOUR!) and she said "Mommy, are we going to preschool?". I told her no that preschool was closed for the holidays. We passed by and of course there were cars there b/c daycare was still going on. I explained this to her and she replied "I want to go to daydare and see my fwiends. I want to see my barba (Barbara)". At that point I realized that as much as I love having her under my feet all the time she is at the age to where her "fwiends" are important to her. It made me feel proud to know that she has developed such a wonderful relationship with her daycare and friends but in the same sense made me realize that she's growing up and isn't going to be a "baby" forever. Who am I kidding? This little sweet thing will ALWAYS be her mama's baby! Here are a few pics of the last 3 yrs.
